Submissions to the Hajjah University Journal of Applied Sciences (HUJAS) are processed exclusively through the 'Article Management System.' Please note that articles submitted via email will not be reviewed.

Initial Review and Plagiarism Screening: During the initial review phase, all submissions are evaluated for formatting compliance and screened for plagiarism using similarity-checking software. Excluding the bibliography, a manuscript's total similarity score must remain below 30%, with no more than 3% matching any single source. Submissions exceeding the 30% threshold will either be rejected outright or returned to the author for revision. If a manuscript is sent back to the author to reduce its similarity rate, this preliminary review process will be finalized within a maximum of 15 days.

Editorial Evaluation:  After passing the initial checks and similarity screening, the relevant editor has up to 4 weeks to review the manuscript's subject, scope, language, and overall academic standard.

Double-Blind Peer Review: Submissions to HUJAS are subject to a double-blind peer-review process, concealing the identities of both the authors and the reviewers. To maintain the integrity and objectivity of the evaluation, each manuscript is evaluated by at least two external, independent experts in the relevant discipline.

Manuscript Revision Phase: During this stage, authors must address the evaluations and recommendations issued by both the peer reviewers and the Editorial Board. Should an author contest any aspect of the feedback, they reserve the right to appeal by providing a reasoned defense. Upon completing the required edits, authors are to upload the finalized manuscript to the system.

Field Editor Review: The field editor is responsible for verifying that the author has successfully incorporated the requested corrections. If the peer review mandated a "Major Revision," the updated manuscript is routed back to the relevant reviewer. If the decision was "Acceptance" or "Minor Revision" and the changes are satisfactory, the editor advances the article to the language check phase, which takes up to 8 days. If the required edits are missing, the article is sent back to the author; failure to make the corrections a second time may result in rejection. Please note that rejected articles are never deleted; all files and process histories are permanently archived in the system.

Language Editing: Once a manuscript passes peer review, it is evaluated by our English Language Editor. If language adjustments are needed, revisions will be requested from the author. This entire review phase takes no more than 10 days.

Editorial Board Review: Once a manuscript successfully clears the technical, academic, and linguistic review stages, it is submitted to the Editorial Board to determine its final publication status. Should any board member raise an objection, the final decision is reached via majority vote.

Formatting and Layout: Once the Editorial Board approves a manuscript for publication, the journal manages the entire typesetting and layout process.
